Sandy LSandy Lewis – Food Service Supervisor

Biddeford Schools, ME

A PCS customer since 2006, Sandy oversees the food service program in 3 districts. In addition to Biddeford, where she already has PCS, she oversaw the installation of RIGHTrak/FASTrak and NetPOS in Dayton School District this year. This presented a unique challenge because Dayton shares food service and business services with Biddeford but maintains its own database. Sandy handled the situation from start to finish with aplomb, helping to coordinate all those involved: IT, Support, and business services at the districts, the cafeteria managers, and of course, PCS!

For POS hardware Sandy uses NEDs, Silentouch, Bolts, and has PayPAMS as her payments solution. When asked what feature or product she likes best about PCS, Sandy replied that the” Reports are awesome, very helpful and detailed.”

Sandy says that even though Biddeford is her biggest district but she worries about it the least because “The system is up and running properly. I can go to other districts and take care of them knowing that the system at Biddeford works so well that I can rely on it to get me through the day and help perform all the functions necessary to efficiently run my school food service department. If there is a problem, I call support and they nip it right in the bud, something I haven’t experienced to the same degree with other companies.”

Does she have a favorite support person? Well, if you know Sandy, then her answer will come as no surprise to you. “Everyone’s great!”

We feel the same about you Sandy! In the words of our Regional Sales Director, Connie Sturman, “Sandy stands out for her upbeat and friendly personality. Any request or comment she makes is done respectfully and patiently. Sandy always has a good word and positive attitude and she is a pleasure to work with!”

Clayton County - GA

A long time customer, Clayton County Public Schools in Georgia have been with PCS since 1999 and have implemented the full PCS product line, front and back office including PayPAMS.

Director, Audrey Hamilton, M. Ed., is proud of her two CCPS schools that just won the Southeastern Dairy Association’s highest participation award. Lee Street ES won an Atlanta Falcon’s Pep Rally (players and cheerleaders visited the school) and Roberts Middle School won the second place prize of $2,500.00!

Audrey

CCPS is a progressive district and is the first Metro Atlanta school district to fully implement USDA’s Community Eligibility Program (CEP) where all students receive meals at “no cost” regardless of their family income. PCS software supports CEP, smoothing the transition for all involved.

Clayton County has worked closely with PCS in the development of a special POS Validation Mode to help reduce student debt on their lunch accounts, as well as many TrakNOW menu planning and inventory costing reports, that facilitate detailed cost analysis and we look forward continued successful projects.

This month’s featured district is Vista Unified School District in California. Child Nutrition Director, Brock Smith had a bold initiative to change out his point of sale as well as his production and inventory systems for this school year. Brock has an exceptionally dedicated staff that supported the decision to go with PCS and have everything up and running for the new school year. Judi Luna, Supervisor, was a key player in getting the system set up, as well as training the managers and cashiers. Application processing, headed up by Vanessa Luna, integrates seamlessly integrates PCS and the Rocket Scan program for scanning and on-line applications. Amy Haessly, Supervisor, was also instrumental in providing support to the managers and cashiers by defining processes that would help them meet their needs. Sheri Tarrant, Vista’s CNS Accountant, worked diligently with PCS to link the new systems with her existing accounting system. Vista Unified’s recent implementation of PCS’s back office will allow the district to finally take control of their food costs, which is becoming more important every day. We are glad to have you as part of the PCS family.

This month we’d like to feature the Beaufort County School District of Beaufort, South Carolina. Beaufort joined the PCS family in August of this year. Beaufort is located on Port Royal Island in the heart of the Sea Islands and Lowcountry. The city of Beaufort is the 2nd oldest city in South Carolina, second only to Charleston. Locations within the school district you may have heard of are Parris Island and Hilton Head Island. The Beaufort County School District is comprised of 32 schools and approximately 20,000 students. The school district partners with Sodexo to meet all of the challenging goals that go along with feeding the children tasty nutritious meals that they look forward to eating. The team is lead by Roberta Peterson from Sodexo and Ginger Weekly from the BCSD. They were recently awarded over $17,500 and a trip to Washington DC to be honored by First Lady Michelle Obama for being the only district in the nation to have every school in their district qualify for the USDA Healthier US Schools Challenge. We are honored to have the team from Beaufort county as part of the PCS family and look forward to many years of partnering for success.
