PCS helps support “Alternative Serving Areas” in South Carolina Districts – Lexington and Richland 5
School District Five of Lexington and Richland Counties – “Elementary School equivalent of Meals on Wheels”
Last summer a food truck started to deliver lunch to 90 children in two apartment complexes when schools were out of session. The truck was converted from a mail truck to a “mobile Kitchen” that keeps the food at the needed temperatures. Now that schools are back in session, the food truck provides an alternative serving area at the school.

This year’s CSNA was the next best thing to Comic-Con. David Dittlinger and Judi Dugan liked Star Trek theme, but did not appear in costume 🙁 PCS was honored to be featured by our friends at Ontario Montclair in their awesome technology presentation. Their presentation was really entertaining, worthy of Hollywood, in addition to being informative!

We are very pleased to report that for the months of August and September, our busiest months of the year, our customers gave PCS Support a very high “Customer Satisfaction” rating. The support team performed in an outstanding fashion resolving customer issues and assisting customers to get the year going on the right foot.
In addition, there were fewer calls during August and September this year than last year, even though this year we have more customers. Our emphasis on pro-active support through the use of video and live webinars is paying off to everyone’s benefit. So, congratulations to all involved for bringing us successfully through the challenges of year start.

The rains came down and our friends in South Carolina experienced historic flooding, as reported nationwide in all media outlets. But, the floods didn’t stop the SNA of SC 62nd Annual Conference.
We were proud to see the SC communities coming together to help each other out. Several of our own customers opened up their cafeterias and served meals to families who were displaced by the floods. At the conference in beautiful Myrtle Beach this year donations were made to go towards helping with the recovery. We are certain they will be put to good use and help to restore what was lost within the community. Despite the devastation, the weather was beautiful for the conference week.
We were proud once again to be a sponsor and participate to in the Dr. Vivian B. Pilant Scholarship Golf Tournament. Our own Becki Rogers was on the conference planning committee this year. Seeing all that goes into planning these events and following them through to fruition is a real learning opportunity with a great reward. Becki is also serving on the SNA of SC Industry Advisory Committee for the 2015-2016 year. PCS values our relationships with our customers and welcomes opportunities to serve you within your local SNAs. Together there is nothing we can’t accomplish.

Bhaumik Thaker attented this Year’s NYSNA Conference and was happy to report that attendance was even better than last year. It was a pleasure getting together with some of our customers, Lisa Ostrowski from North Colonies Central Schools, Cathy Drumm from Hudson City School District & Linda Lee and Carlene Evans from Shenendehowa Central School District. The industry dinner and Breakfast was a great opportunity to meet new people on a more personal level.

Cincinnati Public Schools Implement Grab n’ Go
PCS’ FASTrak POS helps speed the line
“In addition to the Grab n’ Go station, we have two reimbursable meal vending machines, connected to FASTrak, in each of the vending areas of the cafeteria. And this year we added more meal options in another area of the building to reduce overcrowding in the cafeteria, an additional five reimbursable meal vending machines and a PCS Net Cash Machine available to offer students faster service. Due to the success we will be adding more in October.”

Tony Diers
Director of Operations
Last month Tony reached his 20 year anniversary at PCS. Starting out as a Jr. Support Technician, Tony took on any project offered to him, including some very large district installations involving 100’s of schools. Known for his rapid wit and infectious sense of humor, he has always been able to find common ground with a wide range of customers and end users.
As Director of Operations, Tony is responsible for overseeing Front Office POS, Free and Reduced, and Accountability systems design and development, coordination with third party solutions providers, state office interfaces, enrollment, SIS, and financial system interfaces, quality assurance, and high level support services, especially with major city districts. Tony keeps his fingers on the pulse of our industry by participating in many of the User Group meetings throughout the US and meets with PCS users at several conferences throughout the year. His years of experience in the K-12 food and nutrition systems, moving from one technology to the next, are invaluable to the entire staff in managing the software life cycle.
Congratulations to Tony now and for many years to come, from all of us at PCS!

At the SNAI Conference on June 23rd & 24th, Denise and Judi attended a wonderful dinner and a dance party on a boat. “Iowa knows how to have fun!” Denise commented. Sharing a beautiful sunset with our friends in Iowa only added to the experience. We missed our pals at Ottumwa Community School District, but it was really great to see our friends from Johnston Community School District. JCSD’s Nutrition Services secretary, Cheryl Spring won the $25 Visa gift card.
